
Makes 36 brownies Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup Irish whiskey
- 2 tbsp instant coffee crystals
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 2 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp Irish Whiskey
- 1 1/4 tsp vanilla
- 3 to 4 tbsp brewed coffee
- Chopped walnuts (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 350oF. Grease 15x10x1-inch baking pan; set aside
2. In large saucepan, heat granulated sugar, butter, and 1/2 cup cocoa butter over medium heat until butter melts, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla; beat lightly with spoon just until combined.
3. In bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and baking soda; set aside. Stir together milk and 1/4 cup Irish whiskey; stir in coffee crystals. Add flour mixture and milk mixture alternately to chocolate mixture, beating with spoon after each addition. Stir in 1 cup chopped nuts. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack. 4. Meanwhile, stir together powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon Irish whiskey, and 1 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. Stir in enough of the brewed coffee to make of drizzling consistency. Spread over brownies. If desired, sprinkle with additional chopped nuts. Cut into bars. Offer these outstanding brownies for dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries.
